Abstract

This note examines why on-chain laundering evades detection. We analyse 61 million flagged transactions between 2020 and 2025, separating each into a single-chain signal and a cross-chain signal. Across the dataset, 64 percent of laundering flows that evaded detection did so by hopping across chains within minutes, beating any single-chain monitoring tool. We present a real-time, cross-chain analytics architecture grounded in scalable blockchain development principles and quantify its detection effect across two production deployments. The architecture reflects a security first blockchain development approach: every component is independently fuzz-tested and the smart contract CI/CD pipeline enforces contract test coverage gates before any update reaches mainnet.
